About Film: Democracy is abundant today. Yet we terribly experience the lack of it, as well. Or to be precise, the word --Democracy or the concept, is abundant everywhere, including in Sri Lanka. Many a rule had been ratified. Enough amount of awareness programs have been carried out. And most importantly, unbearably heavy amount of boasting is floating everywhere as to how democratic our country, the region or the world is. Yet, we terribly feel the lack of democracy or undergo the harshness of lack of democracy, at least one point in our life, if not at all points. However, this happens in an environment where Democracy is claimed to be existing. Yes the Democracy exists among us.
True! Before our very eyes it exists. But the plight is that it only just exists. Just like the sea. Waves form; they bloat; rise high; dart towards the land; bash on the beach; disperse. Nothing left. The mighty wave that we so a minute ago is no more. Not even a sign of it is left.
However, there will be another wave coming up in a second. But the result will be the same. Our Democracy is just the same. Occasional waves occur. Then they rise high. Bloat. Yet, are dispersed in no time leaving nothing substantial. It just exists. To give life to Democracy. To activate it in our society. To assure our society is built on the pillars of democracy there is no other formula but this simple truth: Plant it within your self. Water it within your self. Let it grow within your self. Let it blossom within your self. And then the sweet scent of those flowers of democracy that is within you will spread across our world, beyond all possible borders, making the world a better place for you and for me. Democracy. It is within yourself.
